And it wasn’t without its trials and tribulations. Let me fill you in. I came into 2023 bright eyed and bushy tailed, raring to go because I knew any day that I would get news from my lovely editor that the manuscript for Wicked Game was almost ready. Well that message came a few days ago. I had everything ready to go. All my social media graphics were made, I was poised to create my pre-order link, I had a newsletter and a blog post drafted. All I had to do was upload my cover to Amazon and create my book page, wait the up to 72 hours for Amazon to make it live and then all my hard work could spring into action.
Sounds great right? I think you can see where this story is going by now.
The email I got from the Zon didn’t make me jump for joy and push the buttons to share my wonderful news with the world. In fact the email I received made me think of a sketch from Little Britain. 'COMPUTER SAYS NO!’ Apparently the title of my book was misleading to customers and could harm their buying experience because it was the same or too similar to another work by a different author. Now I read that email right before I was about to start making dinner and to be perfectly honest I don’t even remember cooking it that night. I was so angry because I had done my research before I named the book. Yes there are a lot of books with the same name, however none are in any of the same categories as mine. So based on that I thought I was good to go. As you’ll know this title has been in the works for over a year and when I got that email I was so sad that I might have to change it. When you read the story you’ll see why that could have been a problem. After I’d managed to calm my nerves and give the email some thorough attention I realised that the title must have been flagged by a bot. All I had to do was submit a reply explaining as many ways as possible how my book was different to all the others. Armed with my laptop and a fire in my belly, I spent that night trawling every book I could find named Wicked Game and I replied to Amazon’s email with as many points as I could to show how my book was different to all the others.
And it paid off because, as the title of this blog suggests, Wicked Game is now up on Amazon for pre-order. Now I can hit all those buttons and share my great news with the world. I can’t wait for everyone to read it. This book will finish the Game Series as there is no natural progression to warrant another book as there has been with the previous three. However I have a new series in the works that will keep these characters, and those from the Soul Series, alive and I’m really looking forward to starting it.
If you haven’t read any of my books yet, they are all available in Kindle Unlimited. Why not start now and get ready for Wicked Game’s release on the 3rd of March.
Thanks for reading all my woes and for your continued support.
Love
